Anton van Dyck (Amberes, 22 de marzo de 1599 – Londres, 9 de diciembre de 1641) Pintor flamenco especialmente dedicado a la elaboración de retratos. Primer pintor de corte en Inglaterra, adorado en Europa.

Son famosos sus retratos de la nobleza genovesa y de Carlos I, rey de Inglaterra, de los miembros de su familia y de su corte. El estilo de sus retratos, de una elegancia relajada, influye en los retratistas ingleses, como Peter Lely. Plasmó, también, temas bíblicos y mitológicos.Alumno y amigo del pintor Pedro Pablo Rubens, del que asimiló la técnica y en parte también el estilo.De joven vive en Amberes, luego se traslada a Italia. Al volver de Italia, pasó a Inglaterra, a la corte de Carlos I, donde se ocupó casi exclusivamente de retratos. Murió en Londres a la edad de 42 años y fue enterrado en la Catedral de San Pablo.
